Configurations of port forwarding and virtual hosts

Postby xinim_minix » Thu Apr 07, 2016 12:38 am

It seems to me polarhome is configured such that port 22 is sometimes routed to the appropriate host-specific port. For example, this logs me in to Free BSD, as you might expect.
Code: Select all
ssh tlevine@freebsd.polarhome.com

this logs me in to Red Hat.
Code: Select all
ssh tlevine@minix.polarhome.com

The latter behavior is what I expect from the port forwarding documentation, but I prefer the former.

If someone tells me what software we are using to specify these mappings, I might eventually finish the configuration file such that all domains are routed the same way and then write some documentation.

Hi,

the answer is very simple.

If the host has IPv6 address and the remote user has also IPv6 connection the domainname will be resolved... if not the default IPv4 address will be taken an that it routed to redhat (because some old historical reasons)

Hope this explanation helps.
Regards,
Z
